Facebook Party Cake :)

I am the official office birthday baker . . . and after 13 years with this lovely task, I have run out of ideas and dread the thought of another office birthday (sorry guys). Sheesh, one can only make cupcakes so many dang times. I know, I know, there are a trillion ways to make cupcakes but the birthday workers have gotten pickier and more comfortable over the years. Making me more conscious of what I make compared with what I made the year before. Bigger and better is always the underlying motto of life. So this week we had a birthday to celebrate. With limited time to think of my next creation, and absolutely no time to actually complete this masterpiece, I broke down and bought one of my favorite cakes. The night before (when I should have been baking at 10pm) I was feeling a little guilty and came up with this grand idea to spruce up the store bought cake (didnt want any hurt feeling that I wasnt baking with love lol) . . . four hours later (yep, I ended up staying up way too late, which was what I was trying to avoid to begin with) . . . I had my fun party cake :) The cake was widely accepted and was renamed the cool "facebook cake" (my awesome picture source)! As an added bonus, they all totally thought the cake was homemade . . . next time I will run with that :) It was fun . . . you should all try it!!
I never actually took my own picture :( This was from a phone. Guess I will have to "bake" another cake soon.

Making the cake is the easiest part... it is coming up with the decorations on it that becomes difficult... as you discovered by your late night. It is a cute idea, though. You need to watch cake boss a couple of times, write down some good ideas from that show and just tone it way down. I used to make fancy cakes for my kids, but then never ate the cakes. So I asked them if they liked cake and none of them really did. But they all loved strawberry shortcake. So I started making angel food cakes and frosting them with whipped cream and drizzling strawberry sauce a little over it for presentation and then for eating, lots more strawberries, a good glob of ice cream and tons of whipped cream. My family also loves any kind of mud pie. They are easier than anything to make for a treat. It is very generous of you to do that for everyone. You might go to a monthly birthday celebration... who ever has a birthday in a certain month, you only have one party. Love, Aunt Gail
